Our Tutors

Our rigorous application process allows us to carefully select our private tutors with the knowledge that we have the right team to deliver the highest standard of private tuition. All of our tutors have excellent academic credentials as well as being passionate about their subjects. As a result, they are all motivating tutors inspiring those around them to learn. It is very important to us that our tutors have the ability to explain what they are teaching, no matter how complex, in a manner that is both straightforward and captivating to their tutee.
We actively encourage parents to engage with our tutees about the academic progress of their child. This feedback means that all parties are working together and fully understand how best to move forward. The desired result is that, with the assistance of our private tutors in London, all tutees will reach their personal academic goals.

Subjects:Maths, Business Related, Economics, Entrance Exams

Since graduating from Oxford University in 2011 with a degree in Economics and Management, I have worked full time as a private tutor, both in the UK and internationally. My degree required a high level of maths. I took A-Levels in Maths, Economics, Geography and Critical Thinking, and received an A in all of these. I attended Kendrick Grammar School from the age of 11 to 18. This involved an entrance exam with both non-verbal and verbal reasoning papers. I have a good understanding of what is needed to achieve the top marks in maths, economics and business related subjects as well as what is needed to be successful in entrance exams.

I have also completed a post graduate degree in Global Development Challenges (University of Edinburgh, with distinction).

I have now been working as a tutor for four years and love my job. I enjoy building up a relationship with the families and students I work with and seeing a transformation in their confidence and their skills. Families I work with often joke that I have the patience of a saint!

I also work in a secondary school for 2 days a week teaching A-Level Economics and Maths.

Michael

Michael has taught at 11+, 13+ and Common Entrance level, and has a huge bank of past papers and resources to draw upon.

Hello, my name is Zara. I have recently graduated from Cambridge University, where I studied Natural Sciences (specialising in cancer, genetics and virology) and I am about to start studying Graduate Medicine at Imperial College London. I am passionate about teaching all ages and abilities and would love to help out with any tuition you may require! I tutor Maths and Science to A level, support students with Oxbridge and other UK university applications and also prepare students for UKCAT and BMAT medicine admissions tests.

YingYing

Subjects: MATHS, CHEMISTRY, PHYSICS , BIOLOGY, OXBRIDGE AND G5 ADMISSIONS

Hi there, I graduated from Imperial College London in 2013 and I have lived in the UK all my life. I enjoy studying medicine because it encompasses both scientific knowledge and social aspects. For me, part of my course is learning to be proactive and communicate to all different groups of people in the best way possible. Russell Academy allows me to practise my teaching and listening skills whilst also benefitting you by getting high-class tutoring from an experienced student. I am experienced with tutoring students at GCSE and at A-Level in both Biology and Chemistry; from my reviews, my students always love my sessions! I am also happy to help prospective medical students and I have taught basic science and maths to young children.

Kate

Subjects: GENERAL ENGLISH, ENGLISH LANGUAGE, FRENCH

I have recently graduated from the University of Exeter with a good 2:1 degree in English Literature. While I love English (and all the subjects I took at A Level), I know what it is like to struggle and so I can sympathise entirely with students seeking extra help. Having sought extra feedback throughout university, I also know that criticism should be given in a constructive manner and so I will be able to help you improve quickly from day one, without the upset that can accompany the thought that we are doing something wrong.

I have a very happy and bubbly personality and I find it easy to talk to new people. I am very patient and have experience of tutoring on a one-to-one basis, having volunteered as a writing mentor at a local secondary school throughout 2016. I am currently working as an au pair in Paris (don't worry about the time difference as it is only an hour!) and I tutor English as a second language 5-days a week. I have also completed over 100 tutorials with Russell Academy, both privately and on the Schools Programme. In this time I have tutored a number of different students, each with different learning-styles, exam boards and levels of motivation, so please feel free to send me a message if you think I would be a suitable tutor for your child.
